And you definitely do not need to worry about keeping up with experienced players.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Teaching adult beginners is at the heart of what I do. I understand that learning something new as an adult can sometimes feel intimidating, and I believe the tennis court should be a place where you feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, laughing, learning, and celebrating your progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
What to Expect at Your First Lesson<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
Your first lesson begins with a simple conversation about your tennis experience \u2014 even if the answer is \u201cnone!\u201d \u2014 and what you’d like to accomplish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
From there, we’ll get on the court and start hitting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I’ll introduce fundamentals in manageable steps, offer plenty of encouragement and feedback, and help you build skills at a pace that works for you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
You won’t be expected to know anything before you arrive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
My hope is that you leave your first lesson having learned something new, feeling more confident than when you arrived \u2014 and looking forward to getting back on the court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Serving Sarasota, Bradenton & Lakewood Ranch<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
Lessons may be available at private community, residential, or other approved tennis courts throughout the Sarasota area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Have access to a tennis court in your neighborhood or community? Feel free to ask about having your lesson there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Court availability and any applicable facility or court fees can be discussed when scheduling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Learn with Martha<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
I\u2019m a PTR-certified tennis coach with more than 30 years of teaching experience. In addition to coaching adult beginners, I coach with Buddy Up Tennis, a program serving athletes with Down syndrome, and I\u2019m an active recreational tennis player and league captain in the Sarasota tennis community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
My teaching style is patient, positive, and encouraging \u2014 with plenty of laughter along the way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
