Why Adults Enjoy Learning With Me

Learning as an adult is different than learning as a child.
It requires encouragement, thoughtful instruction, and a teacher who understands how to break complex skills into manageable steps while building confidence along the way.
For more than thirty years, I’ve dedicated my career to helping people learn.
Long before I became a certified tennis instructor, I spent decades teaching piano and voice, maintaining a successful private teaching studio, and serving as a college music professor. As a professional classical soprano, I also learned firsthand the importance of preparation, patience, discipline, and performing under pressure. Those experiences continue to shape the coach I am today.
Whether I’m helping someone prepare for a recital or develop a dependable topspin forehand, my philosophy remains the same:
Every student deserves patient instruction, genuine encouragement, and the opportunity to experience success.

Why Tennis?

I know what it’s like to begin again.

After a difficult season in my own life, tennis became much more than exercise. It became a place where I rebuilt my confidence, challenged myself, made lifelong friends, and discovered a healthier, happier version of myself.

That journey continues today.

I believe tennis has an incredible way of strengthening not only our bodies, but also our resilience, confidence, and joy.

It’s never too late to discover what this game can give you.

More Than a Tennis Coach

My professional life has always centered around helping others grow.

In addition to teaching tennis, I’ve enjoyed a career as a professional opera singer, college educator, Director of Music, pianist, and private instructor. Across each of these roles, one thing has remained constant: I love helping people discover abilities they didn’t know they possessed.

Today I’m proud to serve as a PTR Level 1 Certified Tennis Instructor, Assistant Coach with Buddy Up Tennis for athletes with Down syndrome, captain of a Tri-Cities League 3.5 team, and an active member of the Sarasota tennis community.

Teaching has always been my life’s work.

Tennis simply became my newest classroom.

Let’s Get Started!

Whether you’re brand new to tennis, returning after years away, or hoping to take your game to the next level, I’d love to help you enjoy the journey.

You don’t need the perfect outfit.

You don’t need the perfect swing.

You don’t need to wait until you’re “good enough.”

You simply need the willingness to say yes.

Come to the court exactly as you are.
