"Love All" by Martha Lopez

I’m excited to share something a little special: my article, “Love All,” has been published in the September 2026 edition of Meadoword, the newspaper of The Meadows community in Sarasota.

Writing this piece gave me an opportunity to reflect on just how much tennis has changed my life.

What began as a sport became something much bigger. Tennis helped me find my way forward after a difficult chapter in my life. It gave me a reason to move, challenged me physically and mentally, introduced me to wonderful people, and eventually became an important part of both my health and my sense of community.

Over time, the tennis courts became a place where I didn’t just exercise or compete. I learned, laughed, volunteered, made friends, and discovered a community that has become deeply meaningful to me.

And somewhere along the way, tennis also led me somewhere I never expected to go: from being a recreational player to becoming a PTR-certified tennis instructor and creating Tennis With Martha.

That journey is what inspired “Love All.”

I’m grateful to Meadoword for giving me the opportunity to share the story, and especially happy to share it with those of you who have followed my tennis journey.

I hope it might also encourage someone who has wondered whether it’s too late to pick up a racquet, try something new, or discover a completely unexpected next chapter.

Sometimes you think you’re just learning how to play tennis.

And then tennis changes your life.
